Cologne, 22 September 2009 - Deutsche Card Services, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bank, today announced that it is expanding its stationary point-of-sale (POS) card payment solutions. In addition to the existing service of credit card acceptance in the stationary POS business, Deutsche Card Services will, with immediate effect, directly offer payment terminals and the national card payment methods girocard (formerly electronic cash), direct debit and GeldKarte (German chip based electronic purse system) in the German market. As a result, it now offers a complete range of services for card payment acceptance and processing in the POS business analogue to its existing offer in the distance selling business (e-commerce, mail and telephone order).
Detlef Henkel, Chairman of the Management Board of Deutsche Card Services, explains the advantages: "This offers substantial benefits for merchants who are active in both distance and stationary selling as they only require one partner for all cashless payment systems and for the whole process from card acceptance to payment processing."
As a leading provider of pan-European solutions for card payment acceptance and processing in distance selling Deutsche Card Services is striving for a comprehensive POS solution that is not limited to the German market. Indeed, Deutsche Card Services will introduce these additional services in main Western European markets in the near future, thereby offering a truly unique service range in the POS and distance selling area. Ultimately, clients will no longer face the complexity having to use individual national solutions with a number of different systems, terminals and service levels which currently prevail in Europe.
"The demand for a pan-European, comprehensive debt collection solution is continuously increasing, regardless of whether the debts were created by card or other payment methods", says Daniel Marovitz, Head of Product Management, Global Transaction Banking, Deutsche Bank. He adds, ?we are looking to utilize synergies stemming from our leading position in European e-commerce, the existing POS solutions of Deutsche Bank in Italy, Spain and the Netherlands as well as the Bank's extensive know-how in European cashless payments to ensure our clients benefit as quickly as possible from a pan-European solution."
